Editor
Draft where the file already is.
Editor is the working document inside the matter: where the draft lives, where it is revised, and where it stays with the instruction.
Capabilities
In the matter
Draft where the documents and research already are.
Drafting ribbon
Character and paragraph formatting, styles, lists, and tables.
Safe drafts
Unsaved work is kept, and recovered if a save is rejected.
DOCX out
Export the finished document back to Word format.
Open a matter document and work on it in place, with the formatting a legal draft needs and a DOCX out when it has to leave.
What it is for
The draft stays in the matter, next to the documents and authorities it rests on.
- Built for legal writing, not rich text in general
- No folder to Word to email round trip
- The same document Verify checks and Redact cleans
How it works
Open a document from the matter and edit it in place, from a ribbon laid out for drafting.
- Bold, italic, underline, paragraph styles, and list indentation
- Tables, find, and undo and redo
- Unsaved drafts are kept and recovered after a rejected save
- Export back to DOCX when the document has to leave
What is live, and what is next
Live in the workspace. Fuller document layout is landing in stages.
- Next: headers, footers, footnotes, and page layout
- Then: comments, tracked changes, and version comparison
Questions
Is the Editor live?
Yes. Matter documents open in the editor in the workspace. Headers, footnotes, comments, and tracked changes are being added in stages.
Can I still use Word?
Yes. Upload DOCX and export DOCX; the editor is there so you do not have to round-trip for every change.
Does it work with Verify and Redact?
They act on the same matter document, so the draft you write is the one that gets checked and cleaned.
Work with Editor inside Obiter.
Available in the workspace for invited organisations.
