Pricing
Search is free. The workspace is priced to be used.
Public search costs nothing, now or later. The apps and redaction models are being released as open source. The workspace is priced for practitioners, not procurement departments.
Beta pricing. Nothing is charged during the private beta. We will tell you before paid plans begin.

The desktop app, the web workspace, and the redaction models are being released as open source, so you can check what runs on your machine and what it sends.
The service stays with Obiter
Search, verification, and stored matters run on Obiter’s servers, where UK case law is held under licence from The National Archives. The apps sign in to that service; it is not available to self-host.
Questions
- What counts as one redaction?
- One document. Long documents count once for every 100 pages, so a 250-page bundle counts as three.
- When should I take the Redaction plan?
- At £1 per 10, the plan pays for itself once you redact more than about 150 documents a month beyond your allowance. It covers up to 2,000 documents a month for one user.
- Is anything charged during the beta?
- No. These prices take effect when paid plans launch, and we will tell you before you are charged anything.
- Why are web matters limited on the free plan?
- A browser cannot keep your files on your machine, so every matter on the web is stored on our servers. The desktop app stores matters locally, so there is no limit there.
- Do you offer pricing for legal aid, charities, or education?
- Talk to us. Tell us about your organisation when you request access and we will discuss terms with you directly.
- Do prices include VAT?
- No. Prices exclude VAT, which is added where it applies.
- What happens to my matters if I stop paying?
- They stay yours. You can export every document, and we delete matter data when you ask.
